Have the funeral you would like

More and more people are now planning and paying for their funeral in advance. When the time comes everything is paid and taken care of. Planning your Pre Paid Funeral ahead of time has a number of benefits for you and for those you love.

  • Relieve your family from stress and anxiety
It’s hard enough to say goodbye without the added pressure of worrying about the deceased’s last wishes. That’s why pre paid funerals can be so helpful in relieving any added stress on your family and loved ones.
  • Lighten the financial load on your family
By covering all costs in advance you will have the peace of mind of knowing that your family won’t have to worry about how they will pay. Pre-paying your funeral can be your final gift to those you love, allowing them to say goodbye without concerns about money at a time when they are least able to cope.
  • Fixed Price means money saved
Buying a funeral at today’s prices protects you and your family from inflation and any future price increase. Saving you money and worry; it’s a logical and considered purchase that not everyone wants to make, but most people are glad they did.
  • Personalise your funeral, say “goodbye” your way
Throughout life we are defined by our personality, our actions and how we interact with those around us. Family Funerals Trust believes this should continue with your last act in this world. We encourage you to think about things now so that your life and personality shine through, at your final goodbye.

Local Irishman’s Final Farewell

December 4th, 2012

This week, family, friends and business associates of Addlestone-based Irishman Noel ‘Ned’ O’Shea said a well-rehearsed final farewell to the much-loved Kerryman.

Not being one to ever miss a party, when he was diagnosed with untreatable lung and spine cancer back in April of this year, 71yr old Ned decided to get straight to work arranging and staging a practice wake, in order that he could take part in the celebration.

The practice party, which was held at Ottershaw Social Club last month, was a huge success, with ‘booze & buffet’ and live music from Irish band ‘McGinty & The Diddymen’.

Ned’s brief battle with cancer came to an end on 16th November at the Sam Beare Hospice. Lodge Brothers, the 7th generation family-owned funeral directors in Addlestone, conducted the funeral, which took place on Tuesday 27th November.

At his request, the entire congregation belted out ‘The Wild Rover’ in his honour. It was his favourite and he sung it at every birthday and party. Director Beverley Lodge knew Ned, as he had worked alongside her husband at British Airways.

“Ned was a legend and a real character, with many a story to tell – and I was honoured to lead the hearse through the town. Hundreds of friends and family came to the wake, which was testament to his popularity within the local community. “

Its so important for your family to know your funeral wishes so make it easier for them with Pre Paid Funerals and funeral planning

See what we Lodge Brothers have been doing recently

Lodge Brothers the professionals in pre paid funerals and funeral planning in the UK

Lodge Brothers & Wickenden and Barnes & Sons of West London were proud sponsors of two special services which took place at Mortlake Crematorium this Sunday 2nd December 2012. The first was a Service of Remembrance for Babies and Children, which was then followed by a Christmas Memorial Service.

The services were led by Canon Julian Reindorp and included Christmas Carols, Bible readings, poems and a roll of remembrance. Whilst the names were read out, stars were hung on a Christmas Tree supplied by Barnes & Sons Funeral Directors of Shepherds Bush.

Afterwards, all who attended were invited for light refreshments including mince pies and mulled wine, supplied by Waitrose.

Both services were well attended and provided a platform of support for grieving families who are struggling to come to terms with a loss.

For those that were unable to attend this service, you can visit Mortlake Crematorium any day of the week in the run up to Christmas and hang a message on the Memorial Christmas Tree. Your message can either be hung on the tree located in the main chapel or the Tree located by the crematorium office and waiting room.
